WOO HATS! [Aug. 27th, 2009|01:50 pm]
I'm still alive apparently, tekgo.org was updated to a new, simpler and far better design last night. Forn Cakes and Fair Warning have not been updated recently, and I can't think of anything to post there at the moment, so they probably won't be updated in the near future.

I am working on other projects for which I have purchased far too many domain names, but I would rather not talk about them until they are finished.

Updates and other stuff is on the twitter account as always.

The Path [Mar. 19th, 2009|09:40 am]
So The Path is an new(came out last night) "short horror game" that I've been anticipating for a long time. It's basically a take on Little Red Riding Hood where getting to grandmother's house is incredibly easy, but the fun is exploring and getting lost in the woods. I would really suggest taking a look at it, or at least at the trailer or grandmother's house site.

I got it on steam, but it is available a bunch of other ways. It will be released for the mac as well, but not for a few weeks at least.

A couple of days ago Clay Shirky and Steven Berlin Johnson each came out with fine articles about the future of the printed newspaper, or lack thereo.

Anyway I was thinking last night about how I have electronic copies of most of my favorite books despite owning printed versions. It seems to me that most books don't really gain anything by being printed and would be fine to read electronically. In fact the only books I own that inherently need to be in the printed form are by John Hodgman The Areas of My Expertise and More Information Than You Require.

Can you guys think of books or printed works that need to be printed?

I'm not evil, I just hate your face. [Mar. 4th, 2009|09:15 am]
Projects have been sparsely worked on recently both because I've been playing a lot of TF2, and I have been working on creating some interactive fiction for Interactive Fiction Writing Month.

Writing IF is a lot of fun, and allows one to explore ideas involving exploding baked goods without having to work in the messy world of graphical representation. In fact my week two submission involves a pie and can be played here. It pretty much sucks, but was fun to create.

Later this week I'll link to an extremely updated version, that has an actual plot, bacon, and various nautical themed paintings described in poor prose.

Also got a haircut. Pictures of haircut will be posted whenever I decide that it is not absolutely hideous.

Two new posts up at Fair Warning, more on the way

I do have other stuff going on, but none of it is presentable at the moment, so unfortunately it'll have to wait.

Also who has a mac with a built-in isight and would be willing to help test some softwares?

Question [Feb. 12th, 2009|09:40 am]
If you could have any sort of clothing/equipment with an attached stat bonus what would it be? Examples include:

Combat boots +2 to ball busting
Watch +1 to punctuality
Gloves +5 against faces

AMC is now hosting all 17 episodes of the original "The Prisoner" for your viewing pleasure. It is my absolute favorite television series, and you should definitely give it a gander.

Also I built some pixel 'why so serious' lips, but they looked lame so I got rid of them.

Moustache time! [Feb. 6th, 2009|12:26 am]

That's right, it's Motherfucking Moustache Time! I would really recommend that you go dust off your moustache and put it on!

3D glasses made from 3D pixels to go with the new FW post '3D, On seeing film in'. There really has been a resurgence in 3D movies or at least movies with 3D versions in theaters. Not all of these movies are good, but I really believe that if you have the choice you might as well see the 3D edition of a film.

The glasses are made from PixelBlocks and are actually transparent, although not enough to actually use. I would have made them in non opera form, but I ran out of black pieces.

also I need to shave.

Woo! [Jan. 30th, 2009|03:12 pm]
Not much going on, saw My Bloody Valentine 3D last night, it fun, plus it was 3D. Of course like most slasher films it was not really a 'horror' film and fairly predictable.

As I promised to myself, I've posted three times to Fair Warning this week, I think the quality is pretty good, but not great. Hopefully I'll do better posts next week.

Also as promised the Pantsless O'Clock site has been updated with a new design. The new design has much more information, including a timer to the next official time, as well as links to the Twitter account, and a calendar for syncing with your calendar app(tested with ical and google calendar).
In Making this new design I also got to write some fancy javascript so the timer will update automatically; every 30 minutes till an hour till Pantless, then it will update once a minute.

Over the next week I'll be writing at least 3 more FW posts, I'll be adding a little more info to the pantsless site, and I'll be working on another project which I'll talk more about in my next LJ post.

Addendum to the last post, Click to Flash has disappeared, but luckily it was open source and a new version with a whitelisting feature is up here http://github.com/rentzsch/clicktoflash/tree/master. Seriously if you use Safari with a lot of tabs like I do, this will really enhance your browsing experience.

Quicky pimping [Jan. 26th, 2009|09:40 pm]
Been oddly productive, which means I haven't been sleeping, I need sleep.

New post over at Fair Warning about saving the princess.

I've done a lot of work on a new Pantsless O'Clock site, and it should be ready to go live in a couple of days.

Also for all you Mac Safari users, ClickToFlash is a wonderful flash blocking plug-in, I've been using it for a few days and I love it. It works with both safari and Webkit. Webkit is like a Safari beta, with all the same features, but a lot faster and now the Nightly Builds can auto-update so you'll always have the latest version.

Had pie last night, twas delicious. Apparently today, January 23rd is national pie day, please go patronize your local piehole and get some deliciousness.

As per my last post, I am currently playing Persona 4 and will be posting various surreal and hilarious screencaps and videos. I am not sure if I will post them here to LJ or to a tumblelog or something, but they shall be posted somewhere.

I am also reevaluating which projects I want to currently work on:

  1. vrsus will be down until I think of better questions and/or I convince more people to join and be active on Twitter.
  2. Pantsless O'Clock is almost fully automated, but I intend to get a nicer website for it up in the next few weeks, including the ical feed for integrating it into one's favourite calendar program and a link to the twitter feed.
  3. Fair Warning will have new posts starting monday, and will be updated at least three times a week.
  4. Forn Cakes will be not be updated until I can get a handle on doing FW regularly.
  5. This LJ will be updated whenever I have stuff to post, which will hopefully be more frequent in the coming weeks.
  6. My twitter is updated and will be updated whenever I damn well feel like it.

Also for all you Silent Hill fans, there is an awesome retro demake of SH2 called Soundless Mountain. It's pretty awesome, although it currently only goes as far as entering the apartment building. It works on both Windows and MacOS X and is definitely worth playing.

random links [Dec. 4th, 2008|11:01 am]
some random links while I'm busy not writing about a blood bank heist:
Fray - Stormtroopers in Love

Auditorium - Perhaps the best flash game I've played in a while.

Prop 8: The Musical - I'm finding it very sad that all this good campaigning for Gay Rights is happening after the fact. However a singing and dancing Neil Patrick Harris always makes me happy.

Give me something to read - A daily listing of some of the best longform articles out there.

Why did no one tell me that the Jelly Belly Factory was only 40 minutes away?!?!?!? And that there is a road called Jelly Belly Lane? WHY?

Related: Who wants to go to the Jelly Belly Factory and take the tour with me?

On a wholly unrelated note, I've started writing over at Fair Warning again, check it out if you want to read my idiotic thoughts on idiotic things. Also, there is, um....punch and pie?

Yay election is over, we can now go back to regularly scheduled programming(except in cases of football) and we don't really have to bother each other about voting for quite a while.

On a sad note, according to current projections every 'ban gay marriage' ballot measure on the books has a decent chance of passing; hopefully things will look different in the morning.
